Hadith #43
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَاذَانَ
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو غَالِبٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوتِرُ بِتِسْعٍ حَتَّى إِذَا بَدَّنَ وَكَثُرَ لَحْمُهُ أَوْتَرَ بِسَبْعٍ وَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ فَقَرَأَ بِإِذَا زُلْزِلَتْ وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Ghalib, from Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform witr with nine rak'ahs. When he grew older and heavier, he performed witr with seven rak'ahs, then prayed two rak'ahs while seated, reciting in them: When the Earth is shaken and Say: O you disbelievers.'
