Hadith #435
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنِ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَهْطٍ فَقَالَ أُبَايِعُكُمْ عَلَى أَنْ لَا تُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا تَسْرِقُوا وَلَا تَزْنُوا وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ وَلَا تَأْتُوا بِبُهْتَانٍ تَفْتَرُونَهُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَأَرْجُلِكُمْ وَلَا تَعْصُونَهُ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ
فَمَنْ وَفَّى مِنْكُمْ فَأَجْرُهُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَمَنْ أَصَابَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا فَعُوقِبَ بِهِ فَهُوَ لَهُ طُهُورٌ وَمَنْ سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ فَذَاكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِنْ شَاءَ عَذَّبَهُ وَإِنْ شَاءَ غَفَرَ لَهُ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ فَعُوقِبَ بِهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا فَهُوَ لَهُ طُهُورٌ أَوْ قَالَ كَفَّارَةٌ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a group and he said: "I pledge with you that you will not associate anything with Allah, not steal, not commit fornication, not kill your children." Whoever of you fulfills this, his reward is with Allah. Whoever commits any of these and is punished for it, that is his purification. And whoever is concealed by Allah, that is up to Allah — if He wills, He will punish him, and if He wills, He will forgive him.'
