‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏

Body (Matn)

قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَنْ ‏ ‏كَانَ يُقْرِئُنَا مِنْ ‏ ‏أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُمْ ‏ ‏كَانُوا ‏ ‏يَقْتَرِئُونَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ فَلَا يَأْخُذُونَ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأُخْرَى حَتَّى يَعْلَمُوا مَا فِي هَذِهِ مِنْ الْعِلْمِ وَالْعَمَلِ قَالُوا فَعَلِمْنَا الْعِلْمَ وَالْعَمَلَ ‏

English Translation

It was narrated from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ who taught recitation that they used to learn ten verses from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and would not move on to the next ten until they had learned the knowledge and action contained in those ten. They said: 'So we learned both knowledge and action.'
