Hadith #189

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُبْشِيٍّ ق
َالَ خَطَبَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ بَعْدَ قَتْلِ عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ فَارَقَكُمْ رَجُلٌ بِالْأَمْسِ مَا سَبَقَهُ الْأَوَّلُونَ بِعِلْمٍ وَلَا أَدْرَكَهُ الْآخِرُونَ إِنْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيَبْعَثُهُ وَيُعْطِيهِ الرَّايَةَ فَلَا يَنْصَرِفُ حَتَّى يُفْتَحَ لَهُ وَمَا تَرَكَ مِنْ صَفْرَاءَ وَلَا بَيْضَاءَ إِلَّا سَبْعَ مِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ مِنْ عَطَائِهِ كَانَ يَرْصُدُهَا لِخَادِمٍ لِأَهْلِهِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَوْرَاءِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَّمَهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ فِي الْوَتْرِ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ يُونُسَ

English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, from Isra'il, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Amr ibn Hubshi, who said: Al-Hasan ibn 'Ali (رضي الله عنهما) addressed us after the killing of 'Ali and said: 'A man has departed from you yesterday. The earlier ones did not surpass him in knowledge, nor did the later ones reach him. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to send him and give him the banner, and he would not return until victory was granted to him. He did not leave behind any gold or silver except seven hundred dirhams from his stipend, which he had been saving to hire a servant for his family.' [Second chain:] 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Sufyan informed us, from Abu Ishaq, from Burayd ibn Abi Maryam, from Abu al-Hawra', from al-Hasan ibn 'Ali, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught him to say in the Witr prayer; and he mentioned the same as the hadith of Yunus.
