حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنِ الْح
َسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِهِمْ جَنَازَةٌ فَقَامَ الْقَوْمُ وَلَمْ يَقُمْ فَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ مَا صَنَعْتُمْ إِنَّمَا قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَأَذِّيًا بِرِيحِ الْيَهُودِيِّ

English Translation
'Affan informed us, Hammad narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj ibn Arta'ah, from Muhammad ibn 'Ali, from al-Hasan ibn 'Ali (رضي الله عنهما), that a funeral passed by them. The people stood but he did not stand. Al-Hasan said: 'What have you done? the Messenger of Allah ﷺ only stood because he was bothered by the smell of the Jewish man.'
