English Translation
Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i asked Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (رضي الله عنه) about superstitious omens (tiyarah), and he rebuked me and said: 'Who told you this?' I disliked telling him who told me. He said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There is no contagion, no superstitious omens, and no owl superstition. If omens were to be found in anything, it would be in a horse, a woman, or a dwelling. And when you hear of a plague in a land, do not enter it; and if it occurs in a land while you are in it, do not flee from it.'
