حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الثَّقَفِيِّ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ قَالَ لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ بَدْرٍ قُتِلَ أَخِي عُمَيْرٌ وَقَتَلْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْعَاصِ وَأَخَذْتُ سَيْفَهُ وَكَانَ يُسَمَّى ذَا الْكَتِيفَةِ فَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللّ
َهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَاطْرَحْهُ فِي الْقَبَضِ قَالَ فَرَجَعْتُ وَبِي مَا لَا يَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مِنْ قَتْلِ أَخِي وَأَخْذِ سَلَبِي قَالَ فَمَا جَاوَزْتُ إِلَّا يَسِيرًا حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ سُورَةُ الْأَنْفَالِ فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اذْهَبْ فَخُذْ سَيْفَكَ

English Translation
Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (رضي الله عنه) said: On the Day of Badr, my brother 'Umayr was killed, and I killed Sa'id ibn al-'As and took his sword, which was called Dhu al-Katifah. I brought it to the Prophet ﷺ of Allah ﷺ and he said: 'Go and put it in the spoils pile.' So I went back, and only Allah knows the grief I felt from the killing of my brother and the taking of my war prize. I had barely gone a short distance when Surat al-Anfal was revealed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: 'Go and take your sword.'
