حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَنْبَأَنَا هِشَامٌ قَالَ كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي الْحَرَامِ يَمِينٌ يُكَفِّرُهَا قَالَ هِشَامٌ وَكَتَبَ إِلَيَّ
يَحْيَى يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي الْحَرَامِ يَمِينٌ يُكَفِّرُهَا فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ { لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ }

English Translation
Isma'il narrated from Hisham, who said: Yahya ibn Abi Kathir wrote to me narrating from 'Ikrimah that 'Umar (رضي الله عنه) used to say regarding (a man saying to his wife) 'You are haram to me': 'It is an oath that requires expiation.' Hisham said: And Yahya wrote to me narrating from Ya'la ibn Hakim, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, that Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) used to say regarding (saying) 'haram': 'It is an oath that requires expiation.' And Ibn 'Abbas said: {There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ an excellent example} [33:21].
