Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ سِمَاك
ٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَ تَحْرِيمُ الْخَمْرِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ بِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يَشْرَبُونَهَا فَنَزَلَتْ { لَيْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا طَعِمُوا } إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ

English Translation
Waki' narrated from Isra'il, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: When the prohibition of wine was revealed, they said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what about our brothers who died while they were drinking it?' Then it was revealed: {There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have consumed (in the past)} [5:93] to the end of the verse.
