English Translation

Yunus narrated to us, Hammad — meaning Ibn Zayd — narrated to us, from al-Zubayr — meaning Ibn Khirrit — from 'Abdullah ibn Shaqiq who said: Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) delivered a sermon to us one day after 'Asr until the sun set and the stars appeared. The people began calling out: "The prayer! The prayer!" A man from Banu Tamim kept saying: "The prayer! The prayer!" Ibn 'Abbas became angry and said: "Are you teaching me the Sunnah? I witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ combine Dhuhr with 'Asr and Maghrib with 'Isha'." 'Abdullah said: I felt something in my heart about that, so I met Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) and asked him, and he confirmed it.
