English Translation
'Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Abu Yahya, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما): Two men brought a dispute before the Prophet ﷺ. the Prophet ﷺ asked the claimant for evidence, but he had no evidence. So he asked the defendant to swear an oath, and the man swore by Allah, besides Whom there is no god. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "You have done it (sworn falsely), but you have been forgiven because of your sincere utterance of 'La ilaha illa Allah.'"
