حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ جَاءَ بِإِسْمَاعِيلَ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَام وَهَاجَرَ فَوَضَعَهُمَا بِمَكَّةَ فِي مَوْضِعِ زَمْزَمَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ مِنْ الْم
َرْوَةِ إِلَى إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَقَدْ نَبَعَتْ الْعَيْنُ فَجَعَلَتْ تَفْحَصُ الْعَيْنَ بِيَدِهَا هَكَذَا حَتَّى اجْتَمَعَ الْمَاءُ مِنْ شَقِّهِ ثُمَّ تَأْخُذُهُ بِقَدَحِهَا فَتَجْعَلُهُ فِي سِقَائِهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْحَمُهَا اللَّهُ لَوْ تَرَكَتْهَا لَكَانَتْ عَيْنًا سَائِحَةً تَجْرِي إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

English Translation
'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib informed us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما): Ibrahim (عليه السلام) brought Isma'il (عليه السلام) and Hajar and placed them in Makkah at the location of Zamzam — and he mentioned the full hadith — then she came from al-Marwah back to Isma'il and the spring had already gushed forth. She began scooping the water with her hand like this, until it gathered from its flow, then she would take it with her cup and pour it into her waterskin. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "May Allah have mercy on her. Had she left it alone, it would have been a flowing spring running until the Day of Resurrection."
