English Translation
Mu'awiyah ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Za'idah narrated to us, from Simak ibn Harb, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Fast upon sighting it (the crescent) and break your fast upon sighting it. If clouds obstruct your view, then complete the count (thirty days). And the month can be twenty-nine" — meaning it can be short.
