Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنِ
سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ لَمَّا حُرِّمَتْ الْخَمْرُ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَصْحَابُنَا الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يَشْرَبُونَهَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { لَيْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا طَعِمُوا }

English Translation
Aswad ibn 'Amir narrated to us, Isra'il informed us, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: When wine was prohibited, they said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what about our companions who died while they were drinking it?' So Allah عز وجل revealed: 'There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have eaten [in the past]' [Al-Ma'idah 5:93].
