حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُتَوَكِّلِ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ حَدَّثَ أَنَّهُ بَاتَ عِنْدَ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَقَامَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ فَخَرَجَ فَنَظَرَ فِي السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ الَّتِي فِي آلِ عِمْرَانَ { إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ حَتَّى بَلَغَ سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ } ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ فَتَسَوَّكَ وَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ أَيْضًا فَنَظَرَ فِي السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَتَسَوَّكَ وَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ أَيْضًا فَنَظَرَ فِي السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَتَسَوَّكَ وَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى
English Translation
Abu Nu'aym al-Fadl ibn Dukayn narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Muslim al-'Abdi narrated to us, he said Abu al-Mutawakkil narrated to us that Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) narrated that he spent a night with the Prophet ﷺ of Allah ﷺ. He said: the Prophet ﷺ slept until the middle of the night — or shortly before or after. Then he woke up and wiped the sleep from his face with his hand, then recited the last ten verses of Surat Aal 'Imran. Then he stood by a hanging waterskin, performed wudu' from it — performing it well — then stood and prayed.
