English Translation

Muhammad ibn Sabiq narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Muhajir, from Mujahid, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: He was asked: Which of the two recitations was the last one — the recitation of 'Abdullah (Ibn Mas'ud) or the recitation of Zayd? He said: The recitation of Zayd. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to review the Quran with Jibril (عليه السلام) once every year, and in the year he died, he reviewed it twice. The recitation of 'Abdullah was the last one (before the final review). It was said: What did it abrogate, or what was changed in it? He said: Nothing except what Jibril (عليه السلام) used to bring.
