Abdullah ibn Zam'ah al-Qurashi al-Asadi, may Allah be pleased with him, was a companion of the Prophet ﷺ from the Quraysh tribe. He had the privilege of direct contact with the Prophet ﷺ and narrated hadiths from him. He is known for transmitting the report about what occurred at the time of the death of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, including details about the succession. He also narrated the Prophet's famous sermon warning against the oppression of women and striking them as one would strike a slave, combined with the instruction about the proper fulfillment of marital rights — a narration preserved in Sahih al-Bukhari that is cited in discussions of Islamic family ethics. His reports also touch on other aspects of prophetic guidance regarding proper conduct and the rights of people. He was present during important moments in early Islamic history and transmitted what he witnessed to the Tabi'in. His narrations are preserved in Sahih al-Bukhari and other major collections. He is regarded as a reliable companion narrator whose reports, though few in number, cover matters of significance in Islamic law and ethics.
