Abu Burda ibn Abi Musa al-Ashari was a Tabi'i scholar and the son of the companion Abu Musa al-Ashari (RA). He grew up hearing hadith from his father and from other companions, and is regarded as a reliable and trustworthy transmitter. He served as a judge (qadi) in Kufa and was known for his knowledge of Islamic law and his integrity in judicial matters. Caliph Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz had a high regard for him. He transmitted his father's narrations as well as those of other companions and became an important link between Abu Musa's knowledge and the Tabi'i generation. He also narrated from Ibn Umar (RA). His narrations appear in all the major hadith collections and he is considered a reliable narrator in the science of hadith criticism. He passed away around 103–104 AH.
