Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) was a senior Companion from the Khazraj tribe of Medina and one of the most prolific narrators among the Companions, with approximately 1,540 transmitted hadiths. He was present at the Second Pledge of Aqabah, participated in nineteen military expeditions, and witnessed many of the foundational events of early Islamic history. He was among the most accessible Companions for Tabi'in scholars in Medina, and major scholars including Ata ibn Abi Rabah made regular visits to transmit from him. His detailed narration of the Farewell Pilgrimage is the most comprehensive preserved description of the rites of Hajj in the hadith literature. He lived to an advanced age, reportedly losing his sight near the end, and was considered the last surviving Companion in Medina, passing away around 73–78 AH. This entry is a variant listing specifying his Ansari identity and refers to the same Companion as Jabir ibn Abdullah.
