البكري الدمياطي
Sayyid
Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad Shata al-Dimyati (1266–1310 AH / 1843–1892 CE), known as Sayyid al-Bakri, was an Egyptian Shafi'i scholar who spent much of his life in Mecca teaching at the Grand Mosque. His most famous work, I'anat al-Talibin (Assistance for the Students), is a commentary on Fath al-Mu'in by al-Malibari, itself a commentary on Qurrat al-'Ayn. This four-volume work became the standard Shafi'i fiqh reference in Southeast Asian Islamic schools. It addresses legal questions relevant to everyday Muslim life with clarity and accessibility. He trained many students who returned to Southeast Asia and spread classical Shafi'i scholarship.
