Abu Nasr Isma'il ibn Hammad al-Jawhari al-Farrabi al-Naysaburi was a linguist and lexicographer from Farab (Central Asia, in modern Kazakhstan). His al-Sihah Taj al-Lugha wa-Sihah al-'Arabiyyah (The Correct: Crown of Language and Correct Arabic) was for centuries the most widely used Arabic dictionary. It is organized by root and covers approximately 40,000 words with examples from classical poetry and the Quran. He died around 400 AH in Naysabur. His dictionary served as the foundation for later Arabic lexicography including Ibn Manzur's Lisan al-Arab.
