علي بن حسين زين العابدين
Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib (38–94 AH), known as Zayn al-Abidin (Ornament of the Worshippers), was the son of Husayn ibn Ali and the grandson of Ali ibn Abi Talib. He survived the tragedy of Karbala (61 AH) by being ill and unable to fight. After Karbala, he returned to Madinah where he lived a life of intense worship, prayer, and scholarship. He is revered by all Muslims for his piety and his supplications (du'as), collected in al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya. He narrated from his father, his uncle al-Hasan, and other companions. He is counted among the Tabi'un scholars and his knowledge of Islamic sciences was widely recognized.
