Ibrahim Musa Kaba, known as Karamokho Alfa (c. 1698-1762 CE), was a Fula Islamic scholar and the first Imam of Futa Jallon (modern Guinea), where he established one of the first Islamic reform states in West Africa. He led the Fulani jihad of 1725-1727, transforming Futa Jallon from a predominantly animist region into an Islamic state governed by Maliki jurisprudence. He established a system of local mosques and Quranic schools. His leadership established a pattern of Islamic governance that influenced subsequent West African reform movements.
