عاصم بن أبي النجود
Asim ibn Abi al-Najud al-Asadi al-Kufi (d. 127H) was one of the Seven Canonical Reciters and the most important reciter of Kufa. He learned the Quran from Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami and Zirr ibn Hubaysh, who both traced their chains back to Uthman ibn Affan and Ali ibn Abi Talib respectively. His two primary transmitters were Hafs ibn Sulayman and Shu'bah ibn 'Ayyash. The recitation of Hafs 'an Asim became the dominant standard in the Muslim world, used across the Middle East, most of Asia, Africa, and beyond. It is the recitation of the mushaf distributed by Saudi Arabia.
