Rafi ibn Khadij al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) was a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ from the Ansar of Medina. He initially requested permission to participate in the Battle of Uhud and was turned away by the Prophet ﷺ for being too young, but insisted and was eventually permitted after demonstrating his ability. He participated in numerous campaigns thereafter. He narrated approximately 78 hadiths from the Prophet ﷺ, and is particularly well known for his narrations on agricultural share-cropping arrangements (muzara'a and mukhabara) — specifically the prohibition of certain contractual forms involving uncertain shares of produce. These narrations became fundamental references in Islamic commercial law, and the various schools of jurisprudence relied on his reports when formulating their rulings on land-lease and share-farming contracts. He lived until approximately 74 AH in Medina. This entry is a variant spelling of the narrator listed separately as Rafi bin Khadij, and both refer to the same Companion.
