Fatima bint al-Mundhir ibn al-Zubayr al-Asadi al-Qurashiyya was a prominent female Tabi'iyya (successor) and one of the important women narrators of the second generation of Islam. She was the granddaughter of the companion al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, one of the ten companions promised Paradise by the Prophet ﷺ, through her father al-Mundhir. She was married to the renowned Medinan jurist and hadith scholar Hisham ibn Urwa, who was himself a major transmitter of his father Urwa ibn al-Zubayr's knowledge. Fatima narrated hadiths primarily from her grandmother Asma' bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with her — Asma' being one of the great women companions and the sister of A'ishah. Through this chain, Fatima preserved important narrations about the Prophet's ﷺ character, the lives of the companions' women, and matters related to worship and daily life. Hadith scholars considered her trustworthy and included her narrations in the major collections. She appears in the chains of Sahih al-Bukhari and other authoritative books, representing the continuation of prophetic knowledge through the scholarly women of the Qurayshi families.
