Hakim ibn Hizam ibn Khuwaylid al-Qurashi al-Asadi, may Allah be pleased with him, was a companion of the Prophet ﷺ and the nephew of Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, the Prophet's ﷺ first and beloved wife. He had an extraordinary distinction: he was born inside the Ka'bah, the only person reported to have been born there. He was known for his noble character and exceptional generosity even before Islam — he was among the respected nobles of Quraysh. He initially did not embrace Islam until the conquest of Mecca in 8 AH, after which he became a devoted and sincere Muslim. He narrated hadiths from the Prophet ﷺ on trade ethics, the principles of commercial transactions, and generosity, including the famous hadith: 'The buyer and the seller have the option as long as they have not separated; if they are honest and make things clear, their transaction will be blessed, but if they conceal and lie, the blessing of their transaction will be erased.' He was known for enormous charitable giving throughout his life. He reportedly lived to approximately 120 years, dying around 54 AH. His narrations appear in Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and the Sunan collections.
