ابن العربي المالكي
Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn al-Arabi al-Ishbili al-Maliki (468–543 AH) was the leading Maliki jurist of al-Andalus of his era. Not to be confused with the Sufi mystic Ibn Arabi (560–638 AH), this Ibn al-Arabi was a strict Sunni Maliki scholar. He traveled to the East and studied under al-Ghazali in Baghdad and other leading scholars. His major works include Ahkam al-Quran (Rulings of the Quran from a Maliki perspective), Aridat al-Ahwadhi (commentary on Sahih al-Tirmidhi), and al-Qabs (commentary on Muwatta). He served as a judge in Seville.
