خليل ابن إسحاق الجندي
Shaykh
Khalil ibn Ishaq al-Jundi (714–776 AH / 1314–1374 CE) was an Egyptian Maliki jurist whose Mukhtasar (The Compendium) became the single most important text in Maliki jurisprudence. Known simply as Mukhtasar Khalil, this concise but extraordinarily dense work summarizes the Maliki school's positions on every area of Islamic law. It was written so concisely that students required extensive commentaries to understand it, leading to the production of numerous influential sharhs (commentaries), the most famous being those of al-Kharashi, al-Zurqani, al-Hatab, and al-Tawudi. Mukhtasar Khalil is still the primary fiqh text in West African and North African madrasas today.
