Ash-Shaybani, as referenced in hadith chains, most likely refers to Abu Ishaq al-Shaybani, whose full name was Sulayman ibn Abi Sulayman al-Shaybani al-Kufi. He was a reliable Tabi'i narrator from Kufa who transmitted from Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa, Zubayda, and other Companions and Tabi'in. He is particularly known for narrations related to the specific practices of the Prophet ﷺ in Hajj and on the rules of warfare. His narrations appear in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. He was considered thiqa (trustworthy) by the scholars of hadith criticism and his reports are referenced in chapters on prayer, Hajj, and legal rulings in the major collections. Another Shaybani of note is Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Shaybani, a student of Imam Abu Hanifa and one of the founders of Hanafi jurisprudence, though he appears primarily in fiqh works rather than in hadith chains. The former is the more likely reference in isnad contexts.
