عبادة بن الصامت
Ubadah ibn al-Samit was an Ansari companion from the Khazraj tribe who was among the twelve representatives at the first Bay'at al-Aqabah — the earliest formal pledge between the Ansar and the Prophet ﷺ, before the hijra. He was one of the first people to teach the Quran in Madinah after the hijra, when the Prophet sent him to teach the new converts. He participated in all the major battles. His most famous narration is the hadith: 'Believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and in Qadar — both the good and bad of it.' He was appointed by Umar ibn al-Khattab as a judge and teacher in Syria and Palestine after the conquests, specifically in the city of Homs. He was a respected legal authority whose judgments were sought by the people of Syria. He died in 34 AH in Palestine during the caliphate of Uthman.
