يأجوج ومأجوج
Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog and Magog) are peoples mentioned in the Quran (Surah al-Anbiya 21:96 and Surah al-Kahf 18:94-98) and extensively in hadith as one of the major signs of the Day of Judgment. In the story of Dhul-Qarnayn, a people came to him complaining of these destructive peoples — Ya'juj and Ma'juj — who were causing corruption in the land. Dhul-Qarnayn built a massive iron and molten copper barrier to contain them. The barrier is described as preventing their exit until the appointed time of Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ described Ya'juj and Ma'juj in detail in numerous hadith. A hole in the barrier grows each night until one day they will say 'We will complete this tomorrow, inshallah,' and return to find it as they left it. On that day they will pour through, filling the earth. The Prophet ﷺ described them as coming in such numbers that they will drink all the rivers dry, including the Tigris and the Euphrates and the Sea of Tiberias. After Isa AS kills the Dajjal and the Muslims pray with him, Ya'juj and Ma'juj will be released and no army will be able to withstand them. Isa AS and the believers will retreat to Mount Sinai and supplicate to Allah. Allah will send a worm (like the worm of Nuh's ark, al-Nawaf) that will kill them all overnight. Their decomposing bodies will cause a terrible smell until Allah sends rain to cleanse the earth. They are also referenced in Biblical prophecy in the books of Ezekiel and Revelation. Islamic tradition places their eventual release as a sign of the imminent end of the world.
