A celebrated Quranic commentary famous for its unmatched analysis of Arabic rhetoric and linguistic beauty. Although az-Zamakhshari held Mu'tazili theological views (which later scholars identified and corrected), his linguistic insights remain indispensable. Subsequent tafsirs by al-Baydawi and others were partly written to preserve his linguistics while replacing his theology.
