English Translation

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Isra'il informed us, from Simak, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: Ma'iz was brought before the Prophet ﷺ and confessed to fornication more than once. the Prophet ﷺ ordered that he be stoned. When the stones struck him, he fled. A man met him with the jawbone of a camel and struck him, and the people caught up and stoned him until he died. the Prophet ﷺ later said: 'Why did you not let him go? Perhaps he would have repented and Allah would have accepted his repentance.'
