حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا عُمْرَى وَلَا
رُقْبَى فَمَنْ أُعْمِرَ شَيْئًا أَوْ أُرْقِبَهُ فَهُوَ لَهُ حَيَاتَهُ وَمَمَاتَهُ قَالَ ابْنُ بَكْرٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ عَطَاءٌ وَالرُّقْبَى هِيَ لِلْآخِرِ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ مِنِّي وَمِنْكَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Muhammad ibn Bakr and 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ibn Jurayj, from 'Ata', from Habib ibn Abi Thabit — that he said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There is no 'umra [life-gift] and no ruqba [conditional bequest]. Whoever is given something in 'umra or ruqba — it belongs to him in his lifetime and at his death."' Ibn Bakr's version adds: 'Ata' said: "Al-ruqba belongs to the survivor."' 'Abd al-Razzaq said: '[The formula is] between me and you.'
