English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (رضي الله عنهما) — via Hashim ibn al-Qasim, from Abu Mu'awiya Shayban, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salama — that he said: 'The sun eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. A call was made: "The prayer — gather!" [al-salat jami'ah]. He prayed two rak'as and two rak'as — then waited until it cleared, then said: "The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah — they are not eclipsed for the death or birth of any person. When you see an eclipse, pray and supplicate until it clears from you."'
