English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Rimtha (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abdullah [ibn Ahmad], from Shayban ibn Abi Shayba, from Jarir ibn Hazim, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr, from Iyad ibn Laqit — from Abu Rimtha, who said: 'I came to Medina having never seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He came out wearing two green garments. I said to my son: "By Allah — this is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." My son began to tremble with awe of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am a physician, my father was a physician, and we are a family of physicians. By Allah, no vein or bone of the body is hidden from us. Show me this thing on your shoulder — if it is a tumor, I will cut it; then I will treat it." He said: "No — its physician is Allah." Then he said: "Who is this with you?" I said: "My son — by the Lord of the Ka'ba." He said: "Your son?" He said: "My son — I testify to it." He said: "Your son — he shall not be held accountable for you, nor shall you for him."'
