Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ عَنْ أَبِي
هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ اتَّبَعَ جَنَازَةَ مُسْلِمٍ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا وَأَقَامَ حَتَّى تُدْفَنَ رَجَعَ بِقِيرَاطَيْنِ مِنْ الْأَجْرِ كُلُّ قِيرَاطٍ مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ وَمَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا وَرَجَعَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُدْفَنَ فَإِنَّهُ يَرْجِعُ بِقِيرَاطٍ
English Translation
Yahya narrated to us, he said: 'Awf narrated to us, he said: Muhammad narrated to us from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: "Whoever follows the funeral procession of a Muslim out of faith and seeking reward, prays over it, and stays until it is buried, will return with two qirats of reward — each qirat like Mount Uhud. And whoever prays over it and returns before it is buried, he returns with one qirat."
