Hadith #405

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ ثَنَا أَبُو نَعَامَةَ السَّعْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَضْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي بَعْضِ صَلَاتِهِ خَلَعَ نَعْلَيْهِ فَوَضَعَهُمَا عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَلَمَّا رَأَى النَّاسُ ذَلِكَ خَلَعُوا نِعَالَهُمْ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ قَالَ مَا بَالُكُمْ أَلْقَيْتُمْ نِعَالَكُمْ قَالُوا رَأَيْنَاكَ أَلْقَيْتَ نَعْلَيْكَ فَأَلْقَيْ
نَا نِعَالَنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ أَتَانِي فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ فِيهِمَا قَذَرًا أَوْ قَالَ أَذًى فَأَلْقَيْتُهُمَا فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ فِي نَعْلَيْهِ فَإِنْ رَأَى فِيهِمَا قَذَرًا أَوْ قَالَ أَذًى فَلْيَمْسَحْهُمَا وَلْيُصَلِّ فِيهِمَا قَالَ أَبِي لَمْ يَجِئْ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ بَيَانُ مَا كَانَ فِي النَّعْلِ

English Translation
Abu Kamil narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, he said: Abu Na'amah al-Sa'di narrated to us, Abu Nadrah narrated to us, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer one day. While he was praying, he removed his sandals and placed them to his left. When the people saw that, they removed their sandals. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he said: "Why did you remove your sandals?" They said: "We saw you remove your sandals, so we removed ours." the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed Jibril (عليه السلام) came to me and informed me that there was impurity on them." He said: "When one of you comes to the masjid, let him look at his sandals. If he sees impurity on them, let him wipe them on the ground and pray in them."
