English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Humayd, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: The Muslims at Badr heard him — meaning the Prophet ﷺ — calling out: 'O Abu Jahl ibn Hisham! O Shaybah ibn Rabi'ah! O 'Utbah ibn Rabi'ah! O Umayyah ibn Khalaf! Have you found what your Lord promised you to be true? For I have found what my Lord promised me to be true.' 'Umar said: 'O Messenger of Allah, how can you speak to bodies that have no souls?' He ﷺ said: 'You do not hear what I say any better than they do, but they cannot respond.'
