حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَي
ْتَ أُمُورًا كُنْتُ أَتَحَنَّثُ بِهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مِنْ عَتَاقَةٍ وَصِلَةِ رَحِمٍ هَلْ لِي فِيهَا أَجْرٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْلَمْتَ عَلَى مَا أَسْلَفْتَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ

English Translation
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, from Hakim ibn Hizam (رضي الله عنه) who said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what about the acts of worship that I used to do in the pre-Islamic period — such as freeing slaves, maintaining ties of kinship, and giving charity — is there reward for me in them?' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'You have embraced Islam along with the good you did before.'
