English Translation

Abū al-Yamān narrated to us, Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us, from Baḥīr ibn Saʿd, from Khālid ibn Maʿdān, from Ibn Abī Bilāl, from al-ʿIrbāḍ ibn Sāriyah رضي الله عنه, who said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "The martyrs and those who die on their beds will dispute before Allāh عز وجل regarding those who died from plague. The martyrs will say: 'Our brothers were killed [like us].' And those who died on their beds will say: 'Our brothers died on their beds as we died.' Allāh عز وجل will judge between them: 'Look at the wounds of those who were struck [by plague]. If their wounds resemble the wounds of the martyrs, then they are of them.' They will look at the wounds of those struck [by plague], and they will indeed resemble [the martyrs' wounds], so they will be joined with them."
