حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ قَيْسَ بْنَ أَبِي حَازِمٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِ
نَّ فُلَانًا يُطِيلُ بِنَا الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى إِنِّي لَأَتَأَخَّرُ فَغَضِبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَضَبًا مَا رَأَيْتُهُ غَضِبَ فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ فِيكُمْ مُنَفِّرِينَ فَمَنْ أَمَّ قَوْمًا فَلْيُخَفِّفْ بِهِمْ الصَّلَاةَ فَإِنَّ وَرَاءَهُ الْكَبِيرَ وَالْمَرِيضَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ

English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Ismāʿīl, that he heard Qays ibn Abī Ḥāzim narrating from Abū Masʿūd رضي الله عنه, that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allāh, so-and-so makes our prayer so long that I hold back [from attending]." The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ became angry — an anger the like of which I never saw in an admonition — and the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "Indeed, among you are those who drive others away! Whoever leads a people in prayer, let him shorten the prayer for them, for behind him are the elderly, the sick, and those with needs."
