English Translation

Abū Salamah al-Khuzāʿī narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, from ʿĀṣim ibn Bahdala, from Ḥabīb ibn Abī Jubayrah, from Yaʿlā ibn Siyābah, who said: "I was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey. He wanted to relieve himself, so he commanded two small trees to come together. They drew close to one another. Then he commanded them and they returned to their original places. A camel came and struck its neck against the ground, then groaned until the ground around it became wet. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do you know what the camel is saying? It claims that its owner intends to slaughter it.' the Prophet ﷺ sent for the owner and said: 'Will you give it to me?' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have no possession dearer to me than it.' He said: 'Treat it well.' He said: 'Indeed, I will not honor any possession of mine more than honoring it, O Messenger of Allah.' And he came upon a grave whose occupant was being punished and said: 'He is being punished for something not considered major.' He ordered a palm branch to be placed on his grave and said: 'Perhaps it will lighten his punishment as long as it remains moist.'"
