حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ حَدَّثَنَا ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْ
نِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرَةَ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النِّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ عَبْدًا خَرَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مِنْ يَوْمِ وُلِدَ إِلَى أَنْ يَمُوتَ هَرَمًا فِي طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ لَحَقَّرَهُ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ وَلَوَدَّ أَنَّهُ يُرَدُّ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا كَيْمَا يَزْدَادَ مِنْ الْأَجْرِ وَالثَّوَابِ

English Translation
ʿAlī ibn Isḥāq narrated to us, ʿAbdullāh — meaning Ibn al-Mubārak — narrated to us, Thawr ibn Yazīd narrated to us, from Khālid ibn Maʿdān, from Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from Muḥammad ibn Abī ʿUmayrah — who was one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ — who said: 'If a servant were to fall on his face from the day he was born until he dies of old age in obedience to Allah, he would still consider it insignificant on that Day, and he would wish to be returned to the world so that he could increase in reward and recompense.'
