حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُجَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ فِي رَكْبٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ مَرَّ بِسَخْلَةٍ مَ
يْتَةٍ مَنْبُوذَةٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَرَوْنَ هَذِهِ هَانَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مِنْ هَوَانِهَا أَلْقَوْهَا قَالَ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمِّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَلدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ هَذِهِ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا

English Translation
ʿAffān narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us, Mujālid ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, from Qays ibn Abī Ḥāzim, from al-Mustawrid ibn Shaddād, who said: I was in a riding party with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ when he passed by a dead kid goat that had been discarded. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'Do you think this was worthless to its owners?' They said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, because of its worthlessness they discarded it.' He said: 'By the One in Whose hand is Muḥammad's soul, the worldly life is more worthless to Allāh عز وجل than this is to its owners.'
