حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ كَسَفَتْ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ
صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ فَقَالَ النَّاسُ كَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَةٌ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَصَلُّوا وَادْعُوا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

English Translation
Abū al-Naḍr narrated to us, Shaybān narrated to us, from Ziyād ibn ʿIlāqah, from al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah رضي الله عنه who said: The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day Ibrāhīm died. The people said: 'It was eclipsed because of the death of Ibrāhīm.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The sun and the moon are signs from among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse for the death of anyone nor for the life of anyone. When you see that, pray and call upon Allah عز وجل.'
