حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ابْنِ حَسَنَةَ قَالَ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي يَدِهِ كَهَيْئَةِ الدَّرَقَةِ قَالَ فَوَضَعَهَا ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَبَالَ إِلَي
ْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ انْظُرُوا إِلَيْهِ يَبُولُ كَمَا تَبُولُ الْمَرْأَةُ قَالَ فَسَمِعَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ وَيْحَكَ أَمَا عَلِمْتَ مَا أَصَابَ صَاحِبَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ كَانُوا إِذَا أَصَابَهُمْ شَيْءٌ مِنْ الْبَوْلِ قَرَضُوهُ بِالْمَقَارِيضِ فَنَهَاهُمْ فَعُذِّبَ فِي قَبْرِهِ

English Translation
ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ḥasanah said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us holding something like a small shield. He placed it down, then sat and urinated behind it. Some of the people said: 'Look at him urinating like a woman!' the Prophet ﷺ heard them and said: 'Woe to you! Do you not know what happened to the man of the Children of Israel? When any of them was touched by urine, they would cut it off with scissors. He forbade them from doing so, and was punished in his grave.'
