English Translation

Wakīʿ narrated from Sufyān, from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr, and Manṣūr — from Rabʿī ibn Ḥirāsh, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, who said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When you come to your bed, perform ablution as your ablution for prayer, then lie on your right side and say: 'O Allah, I have submitted myself to You, and I have turned my face to You, and I have entrusted my affair to You, and I have placed my back [in reliance] upon You, in hope of You and fear of You. There is no refuge or escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.' If you die, you die upon goodness." Sufyān said: whoever wants may narrate this before it — meaning Abū Isḥāq's chain from al-Barāʾ.'
