English Translation

Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAmr, from ʿAṭāʾ, from ʿĀʾish ibn Anas, who heard it from ʿAlī — meaning on the pulpit of Kūfah: 'I used to experience pre-seminal discharge [madhī], and I was too shy to ask him about it because his daughter was with me [i.e., married to me]. So I told ʿAmmār: Ask him. He asked him, and he said: Ablution suffices for it.' ʿUthmān ibn ʿUmar narrated to us, Yūnus narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUtbah, that ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir used to narrate that the concession Allah عز وجل revealed regarding clean earth — and he mentioned the hadith, except that he said: They struck their palms into the earth and wiped their faces with it once, then repeated it and struck again and wiped their arms to the shoulders and armpits.
